Snapmaker Orca
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how information may be handled when you use Snapmaker Orca, review this site, download the slicer, or connect the application to a compatible printer.
Important scope note: Snapmaker Orca is open-source software in the OrcaSlicer project lineage. This page describes the privacy considerations for the software and this information site. The policies of Snapmaker, GitHub, your printer, your network provider, and any service you choose to use may also apply.
1. What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to your use of Snapmaker Orca and to your interaction with snaporca.com, including pages that explain features, system requirements, setup, and downloads.
Snapmaker Orca is a desktop 3D printer slicer and printer management application. It can import models such as 3MF, STL, STP, STEP, AMF, and OBJ, create a sliced G-code file, export that file locally, and, where configured, send a job to a bound printer. Since these activities can involve files and device connections, the way you configure the application affects what information leaves your computer.
This site is an informational resource and is not the manufacturer of Snapmaker Orca. For the latest software terms, release notes, source code, and official support materials, review the relevant Snapmaker and GitHub pages before installing or connecting the application.
2. Information you provide
Snapmaker Orca does not require you to submit personal information merely to slice a model on your computer.
You may choose to provide information when you contact Snapmaker, request support, report a problem, participate in the open-source project, or use a third-party account or printer service. That information may include your name, email address, account identifier, machine details, logs, screenshots, and the details you include in a message.
Model files can contain personal or confidential information in their geometry, file names, metadata, project notes, or embedded thumbnails. Treat a 3MF, STL, G-code, or project file as potentially sensitive. Remove information you do not want to share before attaching a file to a support request or issue report.
3. Information handled by Snapmaker Orca
The application needs technical information to prepare a print and communicate with devices that you explicitly configure.
Files and print settings
Snapmaker Orca reads the files you open and the settings you select, including printer profiles, filament profiles, colors, layer and process settings, painting data, and the resulting G-code. Local slicing and local export are performed on your computer. The application may save projects, preferences, logs, cached previews, and recent-file references according to your operating system and the settings available in your build.
Device and network information
If you use LAN or WAN printer control, Snapmaker Orca must use the network address, connection credentials, device identifier, and commands needed to find and operate the selected printer. Remote features can expose print progress, temperatures, fan settings, axis movement, camera views, LED state, and other device status to the people and services that have access to that printer connection.
Diagnostics and updates
Depending on the build and the services you enable, the application or an operating system may make requests for updates, release information, profile data, or diagnostic resources. Those requests can include an IP address, operating system and application version, language, and basic device information. Check the current Snapmaker Orca release notes and application settings for the behavior of your installed version.
4. How information is used
Information is used to provide the features you choose, maintain security, diagnose faults, and improve documentation or support.
- To import models, apply printer and filament profiles, paint or assign colors, and produce G-code.
- To export a job locally or transmit a job to a printer you select.
- To show device status, camera information, print progress, temperatures, and controls when remote management is enabled.
- To respond to support questions, investigate crashes, process issue reports, and maintain project documentation.
- To protect services and users from abuse, unauthorized access, fraud, or security incidents.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce applicable terms.
Snapmaker Orca is not intended to collect unrelated personal information. Do not place passwords, payment card details, government identifiers, or other sensitive data into model names, comments, issue reports, or diagnostic files.
5. Cookies and site analytics
snaporca.com may use basic cookies or similar technologies needed to display the site, protect forms, remember preferences, or understand aggregate traffic.
A download link may send you to an official Snapmaker page or a GitHub release page. Those sites operate under their own privacy policies and may record access, browser, device, and download information. Your browser, hosting provider, DNS provider, and security tools may also create technical logs when you visit this site. You can manage cookies through your browser, although disabling necessary cookies may affect some site functions.
6. Sharing and third-party services
Information may be shared only as needed for a feature you select, a service you visit, support, security, or a legal obligation.
Snapmaker Orca can work with Snapmaker services, compatible printers, GitHub, and other services that you choose to connect. A printer shared with other users can make its status or camera view available to those users. An issue or pull request on GitHub is generally public unless the repository or channel says otherwise. Review recipients and visibility before submitting logs, screenshots, models, or account details.
Service providers that host, secure, maintain, or analyze this site may process limited technical data on its behalf. We do not sell the personal information you submit through this site. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or during a business change involving the relevant service.
7. Retention and security
We retain information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, for security, or to satisfy legal requirements.
Files stored locally by Snapmaker Orca remain under your control through your computer account, storage, and backup systems. Delete local projects, G-code, logs, cached data, and saved connection details when you no longer need them, especially on a shared computer. Use unique passwords, keep the application and operating system updated, restrict printer access, and avoid sending confidential models through public issue trackers.
No software or network connection can guarantee absolute security. If you believe an account, printer, file, or service has been accessed without permission, disconnect the affected device, change relevant credentials, preserve useful diagnostic details, and contact the appropriate service provider.
8. Your choices and rights
You can choose whether to use remote printer features, submit diagnostics, join community channels, or share files with support.
Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Requests may require verification and may be limited by legal exceptions, security needs, or records that must be retained.
To exercise a right concerning Snapmaker services, use the official Snapmaker support or privacy contact listed on its current website. For information held by GitHub or another connected service, contact that service directly. For data stored only on your computer, use the application and operating system controls to remove it.
9. Children and international use
Snapmaker Orca is a technical tool intended for users who can safely operate a 3D printer and manage files and network devices.
The software and this site are not directed at children who are below the minimum age required by applicable law. If a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, a parent or guardian can contact the relevant service so the information can be reviewed and removed where required. 10. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy when the site, software guidance, connected services, or legal requirements change.
The updated version will show a new effective date. Material changes should be reviewed before you continue using remote printer control, submit a support request, or share files.
